Transitioning Long-Term Leadership
How do you communicate to staff members that have been there for a long time that may not need to be there any longer?
It is essential to communicate your expectations to them in a private setting. If those expectations are not met, arrange another meeting to discuss priorities and the next steps. Provide them with an opportunity to understand the reasons behind the expectations and guide them in exploring solutions.
Consider whether there might be a more suitable role for them within the organization or if a transition to a different position is necessary. Always show them respect and acknowledge the contributions they have made, while also recognizing the potential of the next generation.
