Virtual vs. In-Person Staff
How should churches think about virtual versus in-person staff structures?
In-person collaboration is strongly encouraged for paid staff at every level. While virtual work can offer flexibility, important nuances, communication cues, and relational dynamics are often missed in fully remote environments. Many teams developed virtual-first habits during COVID that no longer serve the long-term health or effectiveness of ministry operations.
Churches should intentionally evaluate their current staffing rhythms and create a clear, strategic plan to move toward consistent in-person engagement where possible. Being physically present together strengthens alignment, culture, accountability, and overall team effectiveness.
