Time Blocking and Calendar Management

Practical rhythms for protecting focused time and managing communication.

Refuse to answer texts during appointments. Set specific times when calls and texts will be returned, like 9:30 to 10 in the car or a 3 to 4 block in the afternoon. Not every hour has to be planned, but there should be designated blocks for the minutiae.

Set an intentional connection time with your spouse each night that you do not break. That rhythm protects the marriage in the middle of a demanding week.

Use a sunset rule: do not let any communication go unanswered past the end of the day. And communicate clearly to your team how your time is allocated. Most frustration in leadership comes from unspoken expectations, not actual conflict.
