Protecting Time with God in Sprint Seasons

How to maintain rich set-aside time with God during the busiest seasons of family and ministry.

In Mark 1, Jesus got up while it was still dark and went to a solitary place to pray. That is the model. You have to get up before everyone else, including your spouse, and that means going to bed early and being disciplined in your evening hours.

When the bedroom door is shut in the morning, the family knows not to knock. Protecting that time has to be a non-negotiable.

The same principle applies to family rhythms. We made household decisions like the "no two sports at a time" rule to protect family time. At the end of your life, you will not wish you had more sports seasons. You will wish you had more family dinners together.

A book worth reading on this: Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown.
