Legacy Offering Structure and Year-Round Giving

Is the Legacy Offering limited to an annual appeal, or can people give to Legacy throughout the year and designate specific areas?

Legacy Sunday serves as the primary annual moment for the entire church to come together in unified generosity, giving above and beyond regular tithes as they feel led. However, Legacy giving is not limited to a single day. Many churches also establish a Legacy Team or similar structure that allows individuals to continue investing in the vision throughout the year.

Year-round Legacy contributors can often designate their giving toward broader vision lanes rather than individual projects. Leadership then determines how those funds are strategically deployed within those lanes. This approach allows flexibility to respond to timing, opportunity, and priority while still honoring the donor’s passion. In some cases, if someone desires to accelerate a specific initiative, leadership may choose to facilitate that in alignment with overall vision and stewardship.

Clarity and intentional communication are essential. Leaders should only present initiatives publicly that they are prepared to resource and execute. When churches provide a clear portfolio of vision opportunities, it allows individuals to respond according to what resonates most deeply with them. Not every person is motivated by the same focus area. Some are drawn to strengthening the local church, while others feel called toward local or global missions. Presenting the full scope of vision helps people engage generously in the areas where they sense the greatest conviction.
