Building Freedom Groups
Our church tried to launch freedom groups, but it never took off, how do we get this going?
Many churches try to launch Freedom Groups, only to find that they never gain traction. When that happens, the question is not whether the concept works, but how the launch was approached. The key is simple: it starts with the leaders.
As the pastor, you set the tone. The most effective way to begin is to personally lead the very first Freedom Group. This allows you to model the culture, create buy-in, and demonstrate the value of the group to those participating. Hand pick the initial attendees, choosing people you believe have the potential to lead in the future.
At the end of the first semester, encourage those attendees to step out and lead their own groups the next semester. In doing so, you multiply the vision and create a pipeline of leaders who have experienced the power of Freedom firsthand.
Launching Freedom Groups is less about a program and more about discipleship through relationships. When the pastor leads the way, the church follows. With intentional leadership and vision casting, Freedom Groups can become a thriving part of your church’s discipleship journey.
