Addressing Cultural and Political Issues

How to navigate young leaders who want to speak to cultural and political issues.

Some pastors carry a unique grace and ability to address cultural and political issues, and we admire their courage. It is not fair for those pastors to say everyone must do it their way. Different pastors have different lanes they flow in, and you can only be yourself with the grace on your life.

I will speak plainly on moral issues like pro-life, gender, sexuality, marriage, and family. I do not see government as the ultimate solution. You cannot legislate morality. The gospel changes hearts, not the government. I will encourage people to vote, but I will not go much beyond that.

Josh Howerton in Dallas is a great example of a pastor with amazing grace and eloquence for cultural conversations. My advice: speak to the issues that matter to you. The body of Christ needs many flavors to get the job done, and we should appreciate all of them.
