Layne has been a pastor at Highlands since 2001, when he and his family moved from Colorado Springs to help start the church. Layne grew up working in his family’s towing business, and in 1989, he met Pastor Chris Hodges, who was his high school youth pastor. His deepest passion is developing leaders and helping them succeed. Layne currently oversees campuses at Church of the Highlands and leads Grow.
Layne has been married to his wife, Rachel, since 1996. They love Highlands, leading small groups, and raising their daughters Ashlyn and Devyn. Layne returns to Colorado every June to race his stock car in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Katy has been on the Highlands team since 2006. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she moved to Birmingham after graduating from Louisiana State University. Katy sees life change happen every day through the local church as she and the Grow team help other churches develop ways to make their ministry more effective. A true Southerner, Katy enjoys spending time with family, college football, hammocks, books, and being in the beautiful outdoors.
Lin is passionate about serving the local church and currently enjoys serving as Pastor/Member Relations Coordinator for Grow. For four years, Lin has served as a personal travel assistant to Anne Graham Lotz, President and Founder of Angel Ministries. She is also an experienced sales and marketing owner/entrepreneur who has served Fortune 500 companies worldwide. Lin currently lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband, William. They have two children and four grandchildren.
Christy has been at Church of the Highlands since the Fall of 2008. She joined the Grow team in May 2016. Christy discovered her natural gift for creative writing as a young girl when she was given a writing assignment in the 5th grade. Through the encouragement she received from her teacher, her love for the written word began. She even won a writing contest in the 9th grade, which led to having one of her poems published in a book. In addition to her love of writing, Christy also loves photography and even owned her own photography business for 10 years. She fully believes that God wastes no season and that is how she finds herself serving today as the Grow Communications and Creative Coordinator; overseeing all Grow communications and social media content. She loves knowing that her God-given gifts are being used to help others make an eternal impact. Christy is joyfully married with two children, Ava and Pierce. She loves spending time with her family and going on camping adventures in their camper.
Janah and her family have been attending Church of the Highlands since 2006. She joined the Grow team in June 2016. She maintains the Grow Resource Site and helps respond to all incoming questions related to Grow. Janah and her husband enjoy family time with their son, Kaimen. She passionately serves on our Highlands Worship team and enjoys all things to do with organizing.
Hannah is one of four children and loves to travel. She celebrated her 18th birthday in Salzburg, Austria, while backpacking through Europe. She is passionate about riding horses and even qualified for a World Show. Hannah also enjoys reading books and loves anything by Jane Austen. Hannah joined the Grow team in April 2016 as a part-time employee and became full-time in August 2016. She now coordinates all of Grow’s training events.
Sarah has been attending Church of the Highlands since January 2007. She graduated from Highlands College and joined the Grow team in February of 2017. Whether it’s through running reports or answering emails, she is passionate about helping local churches reach their full growth potential! She has the honor and pleasure of serving as the Administrative Assistant for the Grow team. Sarah is also one of five siblings and enjoys reading, writing, decorating, and crafting anything. She can often be found with her nose in a book and a cup of coffee in hand.
Michael joined the Grow team in October 2017 after serving for more than 5 years in Highlands’ Central Next Steps team. With a heart to invest in and build up leaders in local churches, he loves connecting leaders with the resources, tools, and information that will help them love Jesus more and better serve their communities.
Inspired by good food, quick wit, poetry, and creation, Michael’s favorite thing is experiencing life with his wife, Emily, and embarking upon adventures with their three boys Elijah, Luke, and Seth.
